The Woo Woo

Writers Club

A space for woo-woo, witchy, self-growth-orientated, spiritual, intuitive, “weird”, sensitive writers and creatives to connect over the magic of the written word.

A bubbling cauldron for our ideas, dreams, and wild creative urges.

A container for busting writer’s block, becoming more inventive with our creativity, and to feel seen, heard and supported by others on the same frequency.

Mystical mayhem ahead...

MEET YOUR HOST

Hi, I’m Anthea! I'm a published writer, poet and writing teacher, writing everything from essays on self-growth and spirituality, to lusty, mystical poetry and fiction.

I grew up in a multi-spiritual home with Buddhas, Hindu Goddesses, Greek Orthodox icons, and crystals in equal measure. Both my parents are certified consciousness coaches and my mother trained as a Kundalini Yoga teacher when I was young child — so ritual, introspection, and spirituality were woven into my everyday life from the start.

When it comes to writing, I told my mom when I was 5 years old that I wanted to be "an author". I never really changed my mind.

I went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature & Drama and a Master’s in Journalism (both cum laude 😘🎓), and studied Creative Writing at Oxford University’s Summer School.

I have degrees in English Literature, Drama and Journalism (all cum laude😘🎓), have been publishing my writing since my teens, and my work as a journalist received international award nominations. Along the way, I moved into marketing and storytelling for global brands and leaders, where I sharpen my craft and gain immense meaning.

Together with my own writing, I now teach others how to write with depth and devotion. In 2024, I presented at Spiritfest Africa, the largest yoga, music, and dance festival on the continent, where I taught my workshop Sacred Haiku.

There will be oracle cards, intros and self-promotion opportunities, writer chats / rants / inspirational stories, writing exercises, as well as mystical ceremony, rituals and challenges to invite spaciousness and “spiritual electricity” into our creative lives✨

Our gathering will be approximately 90 minutes and we meet by the light of the moon! At least those of us in the +2 SAST time zone at 18:00😉🌙

Juicy Exclusive Newsletters

  • A magical newsletter with writer musings and inspiration, book chats / rants / what I’m reading, and life stories like I spread peanut butter on my morning toast (which is thick). Plus the invite to our monthly gathering!

  • A post-mortem newsletter after our monthly workshop, containing the bones of the session.

Woo Woo Writers Club Archive

Our writing exercises from the monthly workshop will be uploaded to into an increasingly sublime Archive, for both new and long-time members to dive into.

Still Brewing...

I have several other ideas for the Club, but one ingredient at a time for now! As the Club grows and evolves, so will the offering✍️

FAQs

Where is the Woo Woo Writers Club being hosted?

Our home base is Patreon!

Patreon is a global community platform that will host all our workshop invites and newsletters, the Woo Woo Writers Club Archive, and the potential for other exciting stuff as the club grows and develops.

Do I have to be a SERIOUS writer?

Nope! Writers of all stages and “seriousness” are welcome to join.

In fact, us “serious writers” are altogether too serious sometimes and could really lighten up more (myself included👀).

What if I’m not into the “woo-woo” stuff, but I’m looking for a writers club?

The spirit of The *cough* Woo Woo Writers Club is to embrace the fun and magic of the “woo” as a springboard for community, meaning, writing, and creativity.

We do not follow any religious denominations and invite members from all backgrounds.

However, a certain openness to spirituality, mystical thought, ritual and ceremony, and the ✨Universe✨, is pretty essential if you plan to enjoy yourself.

There is a writers club out there for everyone, and all I advise is that you consider if this one is for you!

What kind of writing can I bring or write (and do I have to share it)?

Poetry, journalling, essays, fiction, memoir fragments, notes, half-finished Google Docs - all are welcome!

Regarding sharing writing, while you may happily share your ideas, prompts, and process, I discourage sharing major works-in-progress like manuscripts and drafts.

I may create a platform for this in time, but the Club is currently a non-critique space.

Will there be any in-person meetups and/or retreats?

I am brewing several plans! Stay tuned.
